According to a statement from Changpeng Zhao, the CEO of the fluid exchange, attackers managed to slip away with 7,000 Bitcoins (BTC) or roughly $42 million in fiat terms.This is the first time the exchange has been hacked, barely two years after launch. On May 7, 2019, Binance revealed that it had been the victim of a “large scale security breach” in which hackers had stolen 7,000 Bitcoin worth around U.S.$40 million at the time. Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao said the hackers “used a variety of techniques, including phishing, viruses and other attacks” and structured their transaction “in a way that passed our existing security checks.” Exchange hacks have become a serious problem in the cryptocurrency space. Nearly all major cryptocurrency exchanges have been hacked at least once and in such cases, and in the most recent development, Bitrue got hacked on June 27, 2019. In the wake of this, Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao says Binance will be introducing an anti-fraud system that blocks any stolen funds coming through the exchange. Binance, one of the world's biggest exchanges, said on Wednesday that hackers had stolen around 7,000 bitcoin through phishing and viruses, the latest in a string of cryptocurrency thefts to hit exchanges across the world. According to London-based blockchain analytics company Coinfirm, the hackers Blanatov says that the Bitcoin stolen during the Binance hack was hidden in a wallet hosted by Blockchain, the team behind the PIT exchange. The hacker says he has been tracking the movement of stolen 2000 Bitcoins through Huobi, KuCoin, Bitmex, and Yobit.
